Jacque Peterson, School Library Coordinator for the State of Alaska presented the NetSmatz saftey mateirals that are available free on CD. The disc includes slides to use with both parents and students, a script for the slide presentations, videos and handouts. The content includes sexual predators, cyberbullying, online chatting, texting, social networking, web cams and protecting your reputation.
The Alaska Internet Circle of Safety has a great logo (musk ox in a circle) and lives online at www.akla.org/safety. She has a large supply of bookmarks with safety tips on them. If you're familiar with these materials, you might find it helpful to visit the Alaska Digital Sandbox in the next few months. Several teachers from around the State are creating and uploading internet safety lessons to the online space.
